"Less than one per cent of the 26 million men in the UK attend church regularly"
Carl Beech, national director of Christian Vision for Men.
Captain Sensible writes: Please, please, please, do NOT be intimidated by your church leader! If he (or she - but I would hesitate to even recommend anyone staying in a church run by a woman!) insists on neglecting to outreach to men in favour of women's and children's ministries -- well, frankly they deserve to be sacked. And they certainly shouldn't be receiving any more of your tithes to further squander.

Since Christians are putting off marriage indefinitely (as people in the world do), and since we all (on this blog) agree this is a result of sin/selfishness/lies the devil tells, and that the consequences of this are deadly...
Why not rename the blog "the curse of singleness"?
I wonder...
Would referring to singleness as a "curse" be over-spiritualising it again?
Of course, a curse is a far more accurate description than calling it a "gift", but what exactly would we mean by calling it a curse?
I think singleness is more a predictable result of contemporary Christianity:
i) A lack of men, which makes even the single Christian men that are available passive/complacent
ii) No encouragement for singles to get married, and certainly no help in assisting singles in the process of finding a marriage partner
iii) Encouraging Christians to follow our culture, where singleness is growing exponentially, instead of the Bible where just being "single" is not validated as a lifestyle choice at all
iv) Falsly affirming a state that is "not good" and re-packaging it as a gift
So, I wonder if by calling it a curse, it again negates our own responsibility to a degree?
