"At this very moment it is obviously not God's will that I be married because I am not"
Captain Sensible writes: Just a reminder people, beliefs such as the above bear absolutely no relation to the Christian faith.
They may be comforting in a stupefying, mind-numbing way. But they are based on lies, not truth. So the source of such "theology" is not God, but the father of lies.
Have nothing to do with such thoughts.

First of all, I am very happy to have discovered this blog. You don't know how long I have wanted to find those who felt as I do about marriage being the "God" thing to do. I am a 35 year old single black christian woman. I admit, I was never really in a good place for marriage in my earlier years, and the old cliche' "God is still working on you" may have applied during that time. However, what I have learned is that God will continue to work on me until Christ comes back, so that is not the reason for me not to be married. I am mature enough now to acknowledge my weak points that only God can strengthen. But, I also know that I will never be perfect before I meet Mr. Right, nor will he be perfect when he meets me. But, I am really ready to meet whomever he may be to continue this God journey with me. Thanks for your Godly stance and thank you for increasing my faith to believe that I will become a wife someday.
"What I have learned is that God will continue to work on me until Christ comes back, so that is not the reason for me not to be married."
Well done you! Yes, God is working on all of us, all of the time, and will continue to do so until we die or Christ comes back - whichever is the sooner.
I apologise to you for the damage that has been done to you, and countless others, by the false teaching regarding singleness and marriage that is so prevalent in the contemporary church.
You may (if you haven't done so already) find it beneficial to read Debbie Maken's "Getting Serious About Getting Married: Rethinking the gift of singleness", and Candice Watters' "Get Married: What women can do to help it happen."
My prayer for you, and the countless others, is that you will be a wife and that day will come sooner - much sooner - rather than later!
That, I firmly believe, is the will of God.
Well said Anon. The old 'God is still working on you' cliche is as old as ten year old ham...
