Not that I care for Prince Phillip's personality (well only from what I've heard about him) but I gotta come out and say this: I thought he was a really goodlooking guy at one point in his life, lol

God Save our Gracious Queen
Long live our noble Queen
God Save the Queen

Send her victorious
Happy and glorious
Long to reign over us
God save the Queen

Thy choicest gifts in store
On her be pleased to pour
Long may she reign!
May she defend our laws
And ever give us cause
To sing with heart and voice
God Save the Queen!

I think this anthem is a million times more beautiful than "My country Tis of thee." (The anglophile in me is coming out.) She looked so beautiful and happy on her wedding day, and she looks fulfilled and happy today too. She is really an example for the whole world.

I used to think the Queen was a nominal Christian - Head of the Church of England technically. But I was so wrong! I happened to hear her Christmas Day message one year and I was blown away. She spoke very movingly about her personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the strength her faith gives her. There is no doubt she is a very strong Christian. We are blessed to have her.
(Btw, to anyone who saw the film The Queen (Helen Mirren), I would say she was misrepresented, although I didn't watch it all!)

I've been thinking about something overnight, in between sleeping.
Where would the monarchy be today, where would England be today, if, sixty years ago, Prince Phillip would have said, "Gee, I wonder if it's God's will for me to get married? Maybe I should just be content serving the Lord where I am right now. After all, I don't want to make an idol out of marriage."
It is so absurd to think of him actually thinking along those lines, why do so many Christian men feel this is the correct way to think? I've never been able to understand that.
Now, I've read some very uncomplimentary stuff about Prince Phillip, so I'm not saying he's a perfect role model or anything like that. However, Queen Elizabeth has done so well during her reign, she has served admirably, and the Duke of Edinburgh does deserve some credit for his role in helping to make that happen.

Hmm - I wonder which I find harder to imagine: Prince Phillip wondering if it is God's will for him to marry? Or simply saying "Gee"?
;-)
I know, Lisa, all this is ridiculous beyond belief.
You couldn't have made it up!
But there again, someone obviously did!
